We have now reached Jeuno. After Starlight, I thought we needed a change of scenery. Since we for some incomprehensible reason had not visited the wondrous Jeuno with its sky-gardens yet, this was the obvious choice.
I am glad we came here. The city is big and clean and new, full of merchants of every flavor, and its sky-gardens truly breath-taking. Looking down from the gardens, it is simply incomprehensible that something so high is really a construct, not a natural monument. And to think that the city is inside this construct...! It makes your mind spin with its magnificence. Kii Kalira is enjoying it too. She seems to be over whatever was in her mind during the Starlight Celebration, thank Altana. If this hadn't worked I would have had no idea what else to do to help her.
It looks like travel is about to become easier for us, since we managed to obtain chocobo licenses by helping Brutus, the stablemaster of Jeuno chocobo stables. Chocobo renters seem to be everywhere these days, but for now it has been impossible for us to rent any as they require a license. It is exciting, thinking about all the places obtaining our licenses has opened for us!
It is quite late, the night after Starlight Celebration. The scenery is magnificent. The air is crips and fresh. The food was delicious. And yet, I cannot help but think that something went wrong. After exchanging presents, she became...quirky. It's almost as if she was shocked. Did I pick the wrong present?
I had a dozen things I wanted to write about, how amazing the day and how much fun we had. And now, all I can think of is her. She is not herself, that much I can see. I...I need to think about this.
The days just fly by. It is the eve of the Starlight Celebration, and I finally managed to acquire Kii Kalira's present. While thinking about what to get her I remembered her mentioning her favorite scent. I don't think she has been wearing it recently. Maybe she ran out and cannot? So I decided to get her a bottle of it. It proved to be surprisingly hard, but I did manage it in time, thank goodness.
The city has already been decorated for some time, and Smilebringers run the streets. It is indeed a magnificent time to be in San d'Oria. Maybe we'll visit the other cities too, see how the day is celebrated in different nations. But tomorrow, we will relax and have a good time. We have deserved it.
After Bastok, we headed to San d'Oria. To my surprise, there was a mission waiting with my name on the order. To be especially requested to handle a matter like this, it is a great honor! I talked with Monarlais Halver and was told to contact the consuls in Windurst and Bastok for specifics. This is apparently a sign of friendship and support wetween our nations, Kii Kalira was sent on a similar one not too long ago. It is a great thing indeed that we are getting along this well.
We headed to Windurst first, and I reported in at the consulate. The mission wasn't too difficult, although I would dare say that maybe the consul has a bit of a personal grudge against the yagudo. After all, it is not our place as foreign citizens to meddle in the affairs of another nation, even if those affairs involve beastmen. I do not necessarily like the windurstian attitude either, but this is what they have decided is the best for them. Nevertheless, I fulfilled my mission and retrieved two shields from the yagudo for the consul.
Considering the time limits of this mission and the approaching holidays, I and Kii Kalira have decided not to head to Bastok until later. Her orders have her visiting the city too, so this should not be a problem.
